Tales of Arise follows Alphen, a young man from the lower world of Rena, and Shionne, a woman from the upper world of Caelum, as they journey across the land to uncover the truth behind the conflict between the two realms. Their party is joined by Dohal, a gentle healer; Rhapsody, a fiery martial artist; and Law, a brooding swordsman with a hidden past. The narrative weaves together themes of identity, memory, and the cost of war.

There is no character named Elara in any of the story chapters, the character select screen, the lore books, or the side content. If you encountered the name in a fan work, a crossover, or a misremembered detail, it likely originates outside the official game. The closest-sounding canonical names are Alphen (the protagonist) and, in a different Tales title, characters with similar phonetics.

In Their Own Story

The archive clerk in the small harbour town of Tethys shakes her head when a traveller asks, "Have you seen a woman called Elara?" She sets down her ink-stained quill. "No. We have Alphen, the wanderer. We have Shionne, who walks like she's owed an apology to the sky. But Elara? That name isn't in any ledger, no song, no soldier's roll. You might be thinking of a story from another land entirely." The traveller nods slowly, realising the name was a thread pulled from the wrong tapestry.

Reader's Guide

Because Elara does not appear in Tales of Arise, a standard dossier cannot be produced. For reference, the five playable party members are Alphen (protagonist, sword-wielder from Rena), Shionne (deuteragonist, Caelumite with a complex bond to Alphen), Dohal (support/healer, gentle and earnest), Rhapsody (offensive specialist, bold and warm), and Law (late-joining swordsman, quiet and burdened). Each has a distinct personality, a personal quest thread, and a role in the central mystery. If you are looking for a specific character and may have the name slightly wrong, I'd recommend checking the official character roster or the in-game compendium. Fan communities are generous with corrections and happy to help you track down the right name.

Fan note: It's a small thing, but getting a name right matters to the people who love these characters. If you saw 'Elara' somewhere, it was almost certainly a fan-fiction OC, a crossover, or a mix-up with a different franchise. The real cast is already wonderfully full.
